Gilaneh Restaurant - Persian Food Photography in Toronto
For this project, Feriphoto was commissioned to photograph the signature dishes at Gilaneh, a well-known Persian restaurant located inside the Westin Prince Hotel in North York, Toronto. Established in 2011, Gilaneh has built a reputation for authentic Caspian and Persian cuisine, from char-grilled kebabs to slow-cooked northern Iranian stews like mirza ghasemi and baghala ghatogh.
The goal of this shoot was to translate the richness of Gilaneh's menu into images that work equally well on the restaurant's website, social media, and printed menu. Every dish was styled and lit to highlight its natural texture and color: the char marks on a skewer of koobideh, the glossy saffron rice, the fresh herbs on a plate of sabzi. Careful attention to angle and depth of field was used to make each photo feel both appetizing and true to what a guest actually receives at the table.
